Welcome to the Shumeikai Italia Association web site. In these pages you will find informations and documents about Aikido and other japanese Martial Arts (budo).

Shumeikai Italia (SMK Italia) is the association of italian dojo where Aikido pratice is based upon Tamura Nobuyoshi Sensei's teachings.

Tamura Sensei (1933-2010), Aikikai Shihan, VIII dan, recently passed, has been a close student of the founder of Aikido, Ueshiba Morihei (1883-1969).

Tamura Sensei was the representative
of Zaidan Hojin Aikikai in Europe and in charge of Shumeikan dojo, in Bras (Provence).

SMK Italia first aim is to promote and improve the study, the search and the pratice of Aikido and in general to promote also Budo and japanese culture.

The translation of the 3 kanji (ideograms) which compose the name Shu-Mei-Kai might be read as "the society for governing the light".

During the year SMK Italia will organize several seminars directed by some european teachers related to Tamura Sensei's school: Renè Van Droogenbroeck, Stephane Benedetti, Malcolm Tiki Shewan.
